Melissa Allison is always evolving and has enjoyed being a journalist, public speaker, podcaster, blogger and mother of five children.
Returning to college in her late 40's, Melissa had plans to work in public relations until she hosted her first episode of the award-winning, "Melissa Allison Show, USU's Non-Traditional Voice."
After a semester abroad in Switzerland, she received a paid internship at Utah Public Radio and became the backup host for Morning Edition.
Melissa's achievements in college include awards from the Society of Professional
Journalists, scholarships and making the Dean's List. Her proudest moment, however, was being named Utah State University's first Media Scholar.
Melissa went on to work in both commercial and public radio, ran for SPJ's At-Large Director and gives back to her community in various ways.
One unrealized dream came when she applied for a fellowship at Stanford University. Melissa knew she did not meet their requirements but "jumped" anyway and has no regrets. She has said the application process alone held more value than anyone could imagine - taking her to the next level.
Melissa attributes a quote by French writer Andre' Gide for changing her life in 2003:
"You cannot discover new oceans until you have the courage to lose sight of the shore."
Those words inspired her to trust her gut, jump in with both feet and to live outside of her comfort zone - providing a life full of surprises, growth, opportunity and to Loving the F.
